About Us
Tire Search, Rescue and Training Association (TAKED) was officially registered under registry number 35-074-135 on September 22, 2018, and formally approved on October 10, 2018. Founded in İzmir’s Tire district with the voluntary contributions of 21 founding members, our association has since grown to 149 members and continues to expand.
Built entirely on the principle of volunteerism, we conduct professional search and rescue operations during disasters and emergencies, while also providing training programs to raise public awareness of disaster preparedness. Guided by the motto “We exist to save lives,” TAKED plays an active role both in operational missions and in educational activities.
On June 29, 2022, our association received Urban Search and Rescue Light-Level Accreditation, and on May 28, 2024, we obtained the Disaster and Emergency Training Light-Level Search and Rescue Instructor Training Certificate, officially confirming our competence. These certifications stand as the strongest proof that our activities meet national standards both in the field and in training.
Since our establishment, we have taken part in numerous disaster zones, including the İzmir Earthquake (2020) and the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes (2023). We have also actively participated in operations involving floods, landslides, forest fires, and the rescue of missing persons and animals. In recognition of these dedicated efforts, we were honored with the Presidential Medal and Decoration of Outstanding Sacrifice by the Republic of Türkiye.
Our Vision
TAKED aims to establish a sustainable, education-based search and rescue model in line with international standards. Our goal is not only to respond to disasters but also to build a society resilient against them. Guided by the principles of courage, solidarity, discipline, and education, our association continues its vision of becoming a global civil initiative that prioritizes human life through the sharing of knowledge and experience. Honored with the State Medal of Outstanding Sacrifice, this journey reinforces our determination to stand as a source of pride and a symbol of trust for Türkiye.
Our Mission
Founded in 2018, the Tire Search, Rescue and Training Association (TAKED) is committed to protecting the lives of all living beings during disasters and emergencies under the principle of “life first.” Through missions coordinated with AFAD, we have played an active role across Türkiye, while simultaneously strengthening disaster awareness in society through educational activities. With its emphasis on women’s leadership and equal representation, TAKED serves as a model civil society organization, dedicated to ensuring that every individual is conscious of and prepared for disasters.
